California Marriage License

Before a wedding ceremony can legally be performed, a marriage license must be issued NOT more than (90) days prior to the wedding date, the license is ONLY valid for 90 days from the date of issue. I recommend that you obtain your license (30) days prior to the wedding. It is the responsibility of the Couple to secure the marriage license. The couple must be present with a valid photo ID (sometimes two forms of ID are required) to obtain a license. The License must be presented to me on or before the wedding day. I cannot solemnize the marriage if I do not have a valid marriage license. After the wedding, I will file the license with the County Clerk in the County in which it was issued. Some counties accept online applications for your marriage license. Both parties must be present to obtain a marriage license. Check the County website or call the County Clerk's office for details.
